Young People as Sharers of Joy

Young people, to you I say: do your best to unite your efforts to ensure this joy to yourselves and to those whom you meet on your daily path, in your family, at school, at work, and at play. There are young people like yourselves who have not yet found this joy, there are busy men and women who cannot find the time to seek it, there are sick people in hospitals and old people in nursing homes and hospices who are suffering because they are lonely and abandoned. All these brothers and sisters await only a smile from you, a word from you, your help, your friendship, and the clasp of your hand. Deny no one the joy that comes from such deeds: you will thus bring comfort to them and well-being to yourself, because, as the Sacred Scriptures tell us, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).
