Mary, the Morning Star That Precedes Christ

Mary is the morning star that precedes the dawn and the sun of justice, Christ our Lord. Even before Jesus spoke of himself and his mission, Mary spoke of him to those who came to visit the child, and who were astonished and amazed to learn what God had done for the salvation of Israel and all of mankind. Mary is the star of the sea. Her faith is like the light that guides us through the crashing waves and the tempests of this world, and that illuminates the shadows of our ignorance, dissipating error and leading us to the truth, which is Christ. Mary is like the star of Bethlehem, which showed the location of the Son of God, come down among us, to free man from death and sin and to make him the Son of God. Mary, like the star of Bethlehem, leads everyone to Christ from near and far, both those who belong to Israel and those who do not; both those who already believe, in order to help them to believe even more, and those who do not yet believe, in order that they might finally attain faith.
